TAT Phuket expects over 800 million baht circulation during this Songkran Festival

The Tourism Authority of Thailands local office in Phuket is inviting residents and tourists to join in the celebrations of the Thai New Year of Songkran on the beach in Patong during April 12 to 16th.

Among highlights activities are the Mid Night Songkran to be arranged at Soi Bangla on April 12th with Miss Songkran International 2007 at Jungceylon shopping mall while merit making and pouring water on older peoples palms to show respect will be arranged on April 13th at a public park on the beach.

Many local games and plays will also be held. More than 2,500 motorbikers are also expected to join in Phukets Songkran Festival. The TAT Phuket office director Suwalai Pinpradap expects over 800 million baht circulation during the festival while the hotel occupancy rates are reported at 90% until April 17th, the end of the holiday period.
